Working From Home has been a huge transition for Morningstar. But, with working together, our teams have maintained a strong bond and helped each other during this pandemic.
Here’s some tips that have helped our employees while working from home:
Give yourself breaks
Working from home doesn’t mean you have to stay cooped up in your room all day! Give yourself some breaks to stretch and move around. Lunch breaks are a perfect time to go outside and get some fresh air! This will also give you energy to do your best work!
Designate a working spot or desk that will keep you focused
Sometimes working from home makes it difficult to separate work and your life outside of work. Set working hours for yourself and stay focused. Designating a specific area, whether its in your room or apartment, will give you a sense of separation. You’ll be able to concentrate on work, and when you’re done, you’ll be able to enjoy other things.
“Designating a work space is essential for providing mental separation–go to your work spot when it’s time for work, leave when it’s time to be done for the day, and always have a pen and paper right there on your desk with a cup of your favorite coffee!”
-Aubrey Horton, MDP on Enterprise
Zoom is your best friend! Even though we’re all working in different places, you can still meet each other digitally and stay close with co-workers. Never be afraid to hop on a zoom to ask questions or simply to meet people! This will not only make you feel more comfortable, but will empower success throughout Morningstar.
Take advantage of company events or meetings to network and continue to immerse yourself in Morningstar’s culture. There are tons of DEI’s and ERG’s to join so you can meet diverse and great people at Morningstar!
Here’s a great example of staying connected! Morningstar’s Enterprise Team does weekly happy hours to catch up and bond as a team!
